COURSE OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
• Integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for diverse patients with special challenges and abuse and assault patients. • Apply an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system to the assessment and management of a patient experiencing normal or abnormal labor. • Utilize gynecological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement the management plan for the patient experiencing a gynecological emergency. • Integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for a neonatal patient. • Integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for the pediatric patient. • Integrate the pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for the geriatric patient. • 1Curriculum based on National Highway Traffic Safety Administration: National EMS Education Standards • Integrate the assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for the patient who has sustained abuse or assault. • Integrate pathophysiological and psychosocial principles to adapt the assessment and treatment plan for diverse patients and those who face physical, mental, social and financial challenges. • Integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for the acute deterioration of the chronically ill patient. If a student is tardy to class or departs early two (2) times, it will be equal to one (1) absence. Each absence beyond three absences will result in a 5 point deduction from your final grade. DROP POLICY If you wish to drop a course, you are responsible for initiating and completing the drop process. If you stop coming to class and fail to drop the course, you will earn an “F” in the course.
