It includes the conceptual development of the following: sets, functions, numeration systems, number theory, and properties of the various number systems with an emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking. This course is time-bound, structured, and online. COURSE OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Explain and model the arithmetic operations for whole numbers and integers. 2. Explain and model computations with fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages. 3. Describe and demonstrate how factors, multiples, and prime numbers are used to solve problems. 4. Apply problem-solving skills to numerical applications. 5. Represent and describe relationships among sets using the appropriate mathematical terminology and notation. 6. Compare and contrast structures of numeration systems. CORE OBJECTIVES MEASURED 1. Critical Thinking Skills: To include creative thinking, innovation, inquiry, and analysis, evaluation and synthesis of information. 2. Communication Skills: To include effective development, interpretation and expression of ideas through written, oral, and visual communication. 3. Empirical and Quantitative Skills: To include the manipulation and analysis of numerical data or observable facts resulting in informed conclusions.

ATTENDANCE POLICY 1. Check messages and announcements on blackboard. 2. Blackboard logon and access to the course a minimum of four times per week. 3. In this class, participation during the semester (e g, responding to me messages before I post new message, doing the assignments on time, joining the virtual meetings on blackboard and doing the discussion questions by the due dates) will count extra test in the end of the semester. 4. Blackboard logon and access the course every day. DROP POLICY If you wish to drop a course, you are responsible for initiating and completing the drop process by the specified date as listed in the College Calendar on the Student Success web page. If you stop coming to class and fail to drop the course, you will earn an “F” in the course. Course Requirements 1. The student must purchase all required course materials. 2. The student will be expected to have access to the Internet and a computer. 3. The student will logon and access the course a minimum of eight times per week. 4. Students are required to complete the assignments by the due dates. The due dates under tests and assignments calendar on blackboard. 5. Additional course requirements as defined by the individual course instructor. 6. Student not allowed to use AI on the test but students can use it as tutoring tools. Starfish is used to help you be a successful student at LIT. ADDITIONAL COURSE POLICIES/INFORMATION 1. Students are not allowed to use any electronic devices during testing. 2. Dishonesty: If the student caught cheating will face consequences: a. First time a grade of zero will be given to the student until student retake the test in my office and shows all the work b. Second time a grade of zero will be given.
